Philodendron “El Choco red” hasn’t been formally described, but it’s been well embraced by the plant loving community for its velvety soft leaves that appear slightly luminous, and a red hued abaxial on juvenile leaves. It’s been compared to Philodendron verrucosum for their similarities. With looks like these, it’s hard to pass up on this bad boy.

The “El Choco red” is a climber, so give it a surface like a totem or pole to attach itself to. It does well in lower lighting conditions and a loose, well-draining medium. Be sure to water frequently and provide increased humidity, and the “El Choco red” will reward you for it with larger and lusher velvety foliage.

This plant has been fed weekly with Root Roids and Fruit Roids; and fertilised with GreenSpace Slow Release Fertiliser and Liquid Fertilisers.
